This submission was originally sent to me by a close friend of Mike McNaughton of Denham Springs, LA.  I will let the words of CPT Justin Dodge, MD, another of Mike's good friends, tell the story, as they present a side of President Bush that the national media doesn't always let us see.  Here is the story in Justin's words . . .

"Below is a picture of Mike McNaughton, a soldier wounded in Afghanistan in December 2002, and President Bush.  Mike lost his right leg when he stepped on a land mine in Afghanistan.  President Bush came to visit the wounded at Walter Reed Army Hospital in Washington, DC, and when he spoke with Mike, he promised Mike that they would run together when Mike was able to run a mile.  True to his word, President Bush called Mike every month or so to see how he was doing, and a couple of months ago, Mike told the president that he was ready to go for that run.  President Bush kept his promise, and the two men ran 1 mile together  --  1 mile with the president.  Seeing the president taking the time to say thank you to the wounded, and to give hope to one of my best friends was one of the greatest/best things I have seen in my life.
