Support The Troops - NWA Mission Statement
Mission Statement: To provide support to our men and women in our armed forces serving our nation in combat zones, to provide for needs and furnish supplies not normally provided to them by the military, and to help provide support for the loved ones and families left behind here at home in whatever ways necessary.
General Information on Support The Troops - NWA
Support The Troops - NWA is a small organization located in Siloam Springs in the Northwest Arkansas area.  We have been recognized by both the State of Arkansas and the IRS as a non-profit organization, and are continuing to meet the needs of our men and women overseas, along with their families back here at home.  STT-NWA has been in existence since 2002.  STT-NWA started out as just a few people working together in Northwest Arkansas to support a close friend during his tour in Iraq.  SSG John Salcedo was attached to the 101st Airborne who were the lead elements of the invasion of Afghanistan, then participating in the march to Baghdad, and taking  over control of Northern Iraq around Mosul for about a 1 year period before coming back home stateside.  When we received letters from John, he would tell us about how his unit had no laundry detergent, no soap, no deodorant, etc . . . so a bunch of us got together and sent over close to 120 pounds of care packages for John's unit.  Simmons' Foods, a family-owned company that ranks among the top Poultry producers in the world located in Siloam Springs, AR, played a key role in helping us ship the boxes over to Iraq.  When Christmas 2003 rolled around, several people suggested that we organized a Christmas Care Package drive, and with the help of employees of Simmons' Foods, and Dayspring Greeting Cards also of Siloam Springs, we were able to send over 300 pounds in Christmas Care Packages.  When the 101st Airborne came home, people who participated in the previous care package drives asked if the care package drives would continue.  We discovered that there were 2 units currently serving over in Iraq that had ties to the Northwest Arkansas area, so we adopted those two units.  Since November 2002, STT-NWA has adopted over 15 military units, supporting them throughout their ENTIRE tours of duty.  To date in July of 2006, STT-NWA has held 14 Care Package Drives resulting in over 10-1/2 tons of care package supplies reaching our men and women in uniform not just in Iraq, but in Afghanistan and Guantanamo Bay, Cuba as well.

Support The Troops was officially incorporated in July 2004 to take over the organization of the care package drives, as well as providing support for the familes of military personnel, and to promote the patriotic spirit of America.  We are registered with both the State of Arkansas, the IRS, and the United States Government.  We will continue to organize care package drives as long as we have military personnel serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.  Support The Troops will continue to reach out to families of military personnel who need assistance in any way, and we will continue to work with local officials to promote patriotism and support for our armed forces.  There is still plenty that can be done to aid our men and women in uniform, even if it is simply leaving a message for our soldiers in the guestbook on this website.  The links for the guestbook are listed below, and also in the Website Menu.  If you are interested in helping out, feel free to email us.  We are also currently accepting donations to help us carry out our goals, so if you would like to donate to our organization, please click on the
DONATION link listed above in the website menu, or click on the Mastercard/VISA Icons that you see on this page.
