| STT-NWA Christmas 2006 Care Package Drive Results | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Well, the 2006 Christmas Care Package Drive has come to an end. The Northwest Arkansas, Northeast Oklahoma, and Southwest Missouri communities really stepped up to the plate during this drive. WIth the inclement weather forcing us to postpone collection activities and events for almost a week, we were significantly behind in our collection results. Once again, we put the word out through the media and through emails, and our communities simply overwhelmed us with their generous giving this past, and final weekend of the drive. Here are the final numbers for what you, the general public in the tri-state region, have contributed to ensure our men & women fighting for their country are taken care of this holiday season. STT-NWA is pleased to announce that we have collected 2,963 pounds of donations for the Labor Day 2006 Care Package Drive. Yes, once again, our supporters have donated over 1 1/4 TON of supplies and donations, make this our 7th straight drive to earn such a distinction!!! We mailed out some 302 cases of donated supplies to 2 units serving in Iraq or Kuwait. Those units were the following: 142nd Field Artillery, 2nd BN, Bravo Battery -- Siloam Springs 310th PYSOPS Unit -- Fayetteville & Siloam Springs To learn more about these units, just CLICK HERE . . . . . . . . . As in the past, we will be receiving pictures shortly from our adopted units. As soon as these pictures arrive from the front, they will be posted here on the website so that everyone can see just how much our men and women in uniform enjoy these shipments. You will be able to view these pictures by clicking on the link that was provided above for more information on the units we are supporting, and look under the unit designation . . . Example -- 142nd Field Artillery, 2nd BN Bravo Battery All of this success on this drive would not be possible had it not been for people, and businesses stepping forward to give us a hand with the promoting of this drive. First of all, I would like to send a very special THANK YOU out to Elaine Williams & Heather Bishop, STT-NWA Vice-Chairwomen, who really stepped up and help make this drive a success. Thank you again for your support. To Cara Fisher and the Girl Scounts Council of NOARK: Your contribution of several cases of Girl Scout Cookies will once again go over in big way with our men and women in uniform in Iraq and Afghanistan. Thank you so much for your support throughout 2005 & 2006, and we looking forward to working with you again in 2007!!!!! To one last group -- a special thank you to SGT Clark Russo, SPC April Gleason for staying up with us to all hours of the night getting everything sorted, packed, and ready for shipping there at the Siloam Springs National Guard Armory.
