STT-NWA is pleased to announce that we have collected over 2,400 pounds of donations for the 2005 Christmas Care Package Drive. Yes, once again, our supporters have donated over 1 TON of supplies and donations, make this our 4th straight drive to earn such a distinction!!! We mailed out some 112 cases of donated supplies to 3 different military units serving in Afghanistan and Iraq. Those units were the following:
1-30th INF stationed in Iraq, with local ties to Southwest City, MO
Battery B, 142nd Field Artillery, Arkansas National Guard from Springdale
362nd PsyOps stationed in Afghanistan with local ties back to Fayetteville, Bentonville,
and Siloam Springs

As in the past, we will be receiving pictures shortly from our adopted units. As soon as these pictures arrive from the front, they will be posted here on the website so that everyone can see just how much our men and women in uniform enjoy these shipments. You will be able to view these pictures by clicking on the link that was provided above for more information on the units we are supporting.
All of this success on this drive would not be possible had it not been for people, and businesses stepping forward to give us a hand with the promoting of this drive. First of all, I would like to once again thank Mike Disney and the family at KAYH Family FM 89.3. Mike, once again you worked hard behind the scenes and behind the mike to get the word out about this drive. This drive really depended on your station to get the word out much more than in the past, due to the medical issues that kept David Williams silent throughout most of the drive. Thank you SOOO MUCH. A very special THANK YOU goes out to Elaine Williams & Heather Bishop, STT-NWA Vice-Chairman, who really stepped up and took over this drive when David was sidelined. Along with Chris Bishop, Heather and Elaine handled all the promotional and organizational responsibilities that STT-NWA was responsible for. Thank you SO MUCH guys. You are LIFESAVERS!!! To Grady & Brian Lamb, along with all the employees and customers of the IGA Superstore in Siloam Springs -- Thank you so much for your generous and continued support. Your financial donations and continued patronage and support of our troops does not go unnoticed, and is greatly appreciated by all!!! To the following Simmons Foods Employees: Renee Davis & her niece Amanda, Dionne Bennett & her son Keifer, Christie Doyle, Retha Williams, Pat Spence, David Williams, Sr., Gary Bryant, Mike McConnell, James Cook, Frank Myers, Aaron Weyl, Kellie Martin and Mark Simmons -- thank you so much for all your work helping us collect donations, and then work through a marathon packing and shipping event!!! Our soldiers greatly appreciate the greeting cards and writing materials that y'all have continually donated over the past several care package drives. To Bruce Bowen, Arkansas Army National Guard Family Services Coordinator in Benton and Washington Counties -- It was our pleasure to finally "put a face with the name" and to begin a working relationship with your office. STT-NWA looks forward to working with you to continue to ensure that our units here in Northwest Arkansas, and their families, are taken care of during this difficult time in their lives. You are doing an AWESOME JOB, and your efforts are appreciated more than you know. Special thanks go to Doug Tjader with AAA Storage in Siloam Springs, AR!!! Your continued contribution of much needed storage facilities has allowed STT-NWA to continue collecting and shipping these large amounts of care packages over the past 2 years. To Cara Fisher and the Girl Scounts Council of NOARK: Your contribution of several cases of Girl Scout Cookies will once again go over in big way with our men and women in uniform in Iraq and Afghanistan. Thank you so much for your support throught 2005, and we looking forward to working with you again in 2006!!!!! And finally, to Shari, Jewelleeanne, & Kim Duncan -- along with the Darla Wilson & the Gentry Junior High Cheerleading Squad -- Thank you so much for your continued support, and all the help y'all provided during the sorting and packing phase of this drive. Andrew, Joe, Jeremy and the rest of the staff at Eureka Pizza stepped forward to help feed all our volunteers who helped sort and package all the donations on Monday night, December 05, 2005.
