With the continued increase in public donations of care package items, and the continued increase in postage rates, our shipping costs continue to increase as well. There is a very serious need for monetary donations to help cover the shipping costs for 2008. Our estimates show we will need to raise some $40,000 throughout 2008. 5th Annual Support The Troops - NWA Christmas 2007 Care Package Drive
STT-NWA's 5th Annual Christmas Care Package Drive has officially come to a close. Once again, the public support here in Northwest Arkansas was simply amazing. We shipped 560 cases of care packages, totalling 3,510 pounds. That was just shy of 2 TONS of Christmas Care Packages. All care packages were shipped to our troops on December 14th, and reached our soldiers on or about December 24th.
KHOG/KHBS ABC 40/29 Goes to Iraq To Visit Local Soldiers
Once again, KHBS/KHOG, ABC 40/29 TV has done something that no other Northwest Arkansas Television Station has done. With Cameras in tow, 40/29 News went into Iraq to visit local National Guard soldiers serving in Iraq. 40/29 News took all the footage they were able to get and put together a 5-part Special Series entitiled "Arkansas's Heroes in Iraq" and aired the series in late November. We here at STT-NWA want ALL of our country's veterans to know we appreciate them.. So, we are asking our website visitors to send us a picture and information about veterans who are in their lives. We have received some 80+ responses so far, and we encourage all of you to continue sending them in.
